Villalobos Rescue Center (VCR) is a popular rescue organization in Louisiana that gave second chances not only to parolees but also to abandoned dogs, especially pit bulls. Started by Tia Torres, VCR also appears on the popular show, Pit Bulls & Parolees on the Animal Planet.
One day, one of the Villalobos employees spotted a pit bull tied to a pole near the rescue center and notified Lizzy, Tia’s daughter-in-law. Lizzy and the other rescuers are used to having dogs tied to the rescue center’s gates and poles all the time, but that did not stop them from feeling disappointed and a bit angry.
Instead of walking up the door to give up their dogs, people instead tied them up and left them in prominent places near the center, hoping they were found by rescuers. Lizzy and another rescuer immediately walked to the dog’s reported location. A few breaths later, they found a gray pit bull tied to a pole, nervously pulling on her leash. When she saw the rescuers, she grew even more nervous and panicky.
They coaxed the dog to make her relax a bit as Lizzy carefully and slowly approached, untied her leash, and fitted a new one. Jessica, as they decided to name the beautiful dog, still looked scared of Lizzy.
Upon closer look, a piece of Jessica’s lip appeared to be missing. She also had multiple scars all over her body. Unfortunately, rescuers can only guess at what the dog has been through without proper endorsement from her former owners. However, much to their surprise, Jessica had a microchip on her, but when they tried tracing Jessica’s owner, the number was no longer reachable. All they know is that at one point in time, Jessica was loved enough to be microchipped.
Nevertheless, Lizzy and the team were glad to have Jessica in their care. They will definitely shower her with love while she waits for a new home. A home that won’t leave her behind and will let her gentleness, beauty, and sweetness shine through.
