A SafeFurr Place Animal Rescue learned about Charlie when they saw a social media post about him. Rosa Fritz, the owner of the post, fed the dog while she sought for help. She shared his photo on Facebook in the hopes that someone would recognize him and help bring him home. Sadly, no one claimed poor Charlie.
Rosa tried to capture Charlie, but the dog felt terrified when Rosa attempted to grab him by his collar. Since that day, the dog kept his distance until he totally disappeared. The kind woman kept leaving food for the dog, and five months later, Charlie showed up again.
So many other people posted about Charlie’s story on social media. So when Danny from A SafeFurr Place saw the post, he drove for forty-five minutes straight to the pup’s spot. The rescuer didn’t find the dog, but he left him some food and water and came back the following morning.
Danny thought rescuing Charlie would be easy, but he was wrong. The dog spent quite a while without human contact so getting close to him was a complete challenge. Danny had to be extremely patient because he didn’t want to lose Charlie, as Rosa did.
Soon, Danny decided to use a humane trap to secure Charlie. The dog didn’t show any signs of aggression. He didn’t even bark at his rescuers. But once they got to look at him closely, they saw Charlie had an injured leg that needed urgent medical attention.
Charlie’s hind leg had to be amputated. The damage to his bone and muscle were beyond repair. But while he lost a leg, he gained a better chance at life.
Charlie spent the following days and months with his new friends at A SafeFurr Place Animal Rescue. He was such a sweet boy that everyone loved him. And soon, his new dad came.
Brent had a dog that looked exactly like Charlie. He had her for almost a decade but had to let her go once she reached old age. Because of this, the rescuers believed there was no other person who could best care for Charlie than Brent. Finally, Charlie’s home.
