You might not know it, but touch has a miraculous healing power that not many realize. Contact between two humans triggers the release of the hormone called oxytocin. Oxytocin or what is called the “love hormone” is produced in the hypothalamus and released from the pituitary gland. The feeling of love and affection is usually what triggers the release of this hormone.
Oxytocin also plays a vital role in reproduction. When a woman is just about to give birth, oxytocin stimulates the uterine walls to contract, leading the way to labor. Aside from this, oxytocin is also known to reduce stress, thereby giving you the feeling of comfort.
This is why contact between humans and their pets is known to reduce stress levels. Petting an animal also triggers the release of the hormone, causing us to feel at ease and comfortable when we are with our pets. And of course, this comes as an advantage to our four-legged furry friends. Dogs, after all, love to be scratched and petted all the time.
The adorable dog in this featured video is no exception. While dad is lounging around on the couch, the lovable dog cuddles up next to him. Dad begins scratching the pup and we can only guess the pooch doesn’t want him to stop. As dad stops scratching the dog and puts his hand on his lap, the needy pup gives him a stern side stare.
It’s as if the dog is telling his dad, “Did I tell you to stop, dad?” Not only that, the clever pooch even uses his paw to swipe at his dad’s hand, motioning him to continue with the scratchies. Every time dad would stop and put down his hand, the dog would swipe at his hand with his paw. Dad could not catch a break with such a needy dog around. Awww how adorably hilarious.
Watch the needy dog beg his dad for more scratchies in the video below.
