We never know what difficulties and challenges we need to endure before we reach our breakthrough in life. We all have different problems and situations. However, it is up to us to either keep going or completely lose our way.
Dogs are not exceptions to this. Thankfully, this certain dog chose to continue living his life despite his former situation. His story is absolutely one that could amaze and inspire everyone to keep going amidst life’s overwhelming challenges.
The dog’s name is Foxtrot. He lost his mother when he was still a puppy. Here is how he went from being an abandoned puppy to becoming a UN refugee camp mascot.
Back in 2017, the Myanmar military started a savage crackdown against the Rohingya Muslim ethnic minority that prompted hundreds of people to fly over the border.
Millions of people took shelter in refugee camps. They scattered around the Cox’s Bazar area of Bangladesh.
Luckily for everyone, the UN’s World Food Program and other different charities were very helpful. They were with them since day one, supplying them with food and other necessities.
One day, while some charity groups did a beach clean-up, Foxtrot appeared. Later on, he would not stop following them. A volunteer named Emma saw Foxtrot and decided to keep him.
Days after, Foxtrot was dying. He fought for his life, and a nurse took care of him since there were no vets in Cox’s Bazar.
Foxtrot survived that near-death experience and was officially named the “Chief Mascot and Mood Manager at WFP.”
He was one of the leaders during their visits to temporary schools, canteens, and WFP events. Like a superhero, Foxtrot wears a cape. On special days like International Women’s Day, he wears special ones.
One of Foxtrot’s human team members took the liberty to write his biography on their website. It says that one of Foxtrot’s favorite tasks is making sure nobody is stressed out.
He just wants everybody to be happy. If he senses that a person is troubled, he immediately runs up to them with a toy between his teeth and starts pushing his head against their leg.
Foxtrot also has other ways of helping minorities. For instance, Foxtrot has an Instagram account. He uses his platform to raise awareness of the Rohingya people’s situation and money to sustain their needs.
It is truly inspiring how Foxtrot went from zero to hero. It is incredible to think how one small dog can handle such significant responsibilities.
Despite how tiring everything he does might be, Foxtrot enjoys what he does. It makes him happier to see other people happy. If a dog can help loads, there is no reason for people not to.
