Jonathan Plesset is a man who will do everything for animals. A pilot by profession, Jonathan also owns the Shadyside Inn All Suites Hotel in Pittsburgh. Aside from accommodating human guests, Jonathan, from time to time, houses some of the animals, dogs most of the time, he rescues in this hotel.
When Jonathan received his aviation license years ago, he and his close friend, Brad Childs, vowed to themselves that they would help rescue animals. Back then, kill shelters are still rampant in the United States, and Jonathan does not want this to happen.
So, whenever he hears about a dog or any animals going to be killed, he volunteers his hotel to be the temporary shelter of these animals. Since he loves animals, Jonathan likewise founded Pittsburgh Aviation Animal Rescue Team (PAART). He and Brad serve as the chief pilots of this aviation rescue team.
But since many pilots share the advocacy of Jonathan, the organization grew as the years progressed. Since then, the organization became active in transporting animals from a specific place to Jonathan’s hotel in Pittsburgh. In 2017, Jonathan and his team helped in transporting animals from Texas, which got hit by Hurricane Harvey. Jonathan’s organization likewise helped to carry dogs back to the US from the meat farms of South Korea.
According to Jonathan, ever since the inception of the organization, they already helped save the lives of over 10,000 animals. Some of these animals have also been housed in Jonathan’s hotel.
Jonathan decided to house the dogs to his hotel to increase the chances of these dogs to get adopted. Jonathan, from time to time, speaks with his hotel guests and asks them if they are keen on providing a home to these dogs. With this setup, Jonathan was able to help some dogs find their new families. Jonathan said that he would continue with this advocacy until he breathes his last.
