Service dogs are special and hardworking animals. They work tirelessly in developing the necessary abilities they need to accomplish their job efficiently. Usually starting at an early age, these highly trained pups are assigned to different service roles according to their particular skill set.
Since he was eight weeks old, Mushu has been training to be a service dog, specifically an assistance dog. His trainer Kathryn Eland patiently taught him how to fetch and pick up items for her. With all of Mushu’s hard work, Kathryn decided to reward this good boy with a special treat.
She thought an amazing day at Build-A-Bear was something Mushu would really enjoy. The adorable service dog immediately picked his own bear and handed it over to the store staff to be prepare. It took a while for the toy bear to be stuffed and have the Build-A-Bear signature heart placed inside.
Mushu waited patiently, being the obedient and good boy he was. Even though he sported a rather worried look, he simply sat and observed the people getting his teddy bear ready for him. The moment a staff member handed the stuffed bear back, the sweet dog gently took it in his mouth with a happy smile.
He proudly showed off his new buddy bear, cuddling with the stuffed toy all night long. This fun activity was actually designed by Kathryn to be a learning one too, with Mushu practicing his skill in picking up items for his handler.
Kathryn caught his entire experience on video and shared it on Mushu’s personal Instagram and TikTok account. As expected, the video gained traction and became viral. This service dog’s well-deserved day out delighted everyone in the social media sphere.
Mushu’s graduation from Kathryn’s training program was fast approaching. Soon, he was going to move on to the next level and work under a new handler. With this pup’s unmistakable disposition and intelligence, Mushu was truly destined to be a marvelous service dog.
