Imagine if you put a dog, a cat, and a rat in the same room together at the same time. You’ll probably think that chaos would soon follow. Although this may prove to be quite true in a lot of cases, the opposite is true for Lucia Lopez, who is a proud mom of a pit bull, two cats, and two rats.
When Lucia’s dad passed away, Lucia became depressed and thought that she could cope with her loss by adopting a dog. So, she went to her local animal rescue shelter and adopted a pit bull named Bishop. It didn’t take long for Bishop and Lucia to bond, and Lucia couldn’t be happier having Bishop around to accompany her.
Before being adopted by Lucia, Bishop was abused by his former owner and was used for breeding. Bishop really helped a lot when it came to Lucia dealing with her loss. However, Lucia soon realized that Bishop wouldn’t be her only pet.
Lucia found a stray cat on a highway called Douglaston Parkway. Lucia named the cat Doug after the road, where he was found wandering. Lucia wasn’t planning on keeping Doug but as soon as she put Doug next to Bishop, she knew that she just added another member of her family. Doug taught Bishop to love cats.
Eventually, Lucia adopted another cat named Simba. Simba had half a tail and got along with both Bishop and Doug. Seeing all her furry children get together made Lucia really happy. However, Lucia decided to adopt two more rescue animals, which were rats named Joey and Chandler.
Lucia was afraid that her two cats and her pit bull wouldn’t get along with the two rats. However, as soon as she put the rats on her bed along with Bishop and the two cats, Lucia’s worries wholly disappeared. All her pet animals got along. Even the cats spent some time playing with the rats. Here’s a remarkable video showing how a woman managed to get animals that were considered to be natural enemies to become a family.
